Earthquake 2023

"Be the light of an innocent"

“Be a light of hope”

On February 6, 2023, several earthquakes of magnitude 7.6-7.8 occurred in southeastern Turkey, just nine hours apart. The epicenter of the quake was in Kahramanmaras. In addition, there were 10 other Turkish provinces where extensive damage was left behind.

Survivors are either injured, homeless, have severe damage to their homes, or are struggling with the pain of losing a loved one.

The number of victims quickly makes it clear that this is a once-in-a-century catastrophe, the dimensions of which will be felt for decades to come.

The worst affected by this catastrophe are undoubtedly the poorest in society. Such as schoolchildren and students, children and young people who lost their families and became orphans overnight.

These groups urgently need quick help - at all levels.

It is unthinkable to endure this pain and return to a normal daily routine. Coming to terms with this trauma, dealing with grief, and also the uncertain future represent major hurdles.

This makes it all the more important to enable people to be reintegrated into society as quickly as possible. This should be intended in the form of rehabilitation measures, grief management, but also as a continuation of training in order to regain security and normality in everyday life.

For this reason, we, the Hizir Foundation eV, want to support schoolchildren and students with new scholarship funds. We can only do this with your help. Be a light that gives these people security, strength and power,
